21 news is a national reporting initiative, headquartered at Arizona State University, which brings together top journalism students from across the country for a 10-week reporting fellowship and a spring video-conferenced topics seminar. Fellows work out of the Cronkite School’s newsroom and travel to other countries to gather stories for television and online. This year’s students are focused on investigative journalism and will produce a series of documentary projects on the resurgence of conservative politics.

In 1997, the CW and NBC-affiliated WFMJ-TV purchased WKBN-TV, a local station in Youngstown, Ohio. The station is one of the few locally owned television stations in the United States and one of only four in the state of Ohio. The station’s advertising claims have made it a ratings powerhouse in the town. It’s also affiliated with Ogden Newspapers, which owns the Tribune Chronicle in Warren.
